Global welcome: international students of the second semester 2024 are already at USACH

The university expects to receive 117 students from 13 countries to join the different faculties in the second half of the academic year.
As every semester, the Department of International Relations (DRII) prepared an information session to welcome international students who will be part of the Universidad de Santiago de Chile for a semester. This event, which took place at the Vice-Rectory of Public Engagement and Outreach (VIME), was the first of two orientation sessions to be offered by the DRII.

The day was led by Fernando Olmos Galleguillos, director of the DRII, and Fernanda Vidal Mendoza, coordinator of Incoming Student Mobility of the department, who received and welcomed the group of exchange students.

During this session, the students are also given fundamental information for their stay at the university, in Santiago and in the country, such as some regulations, laws and safety recommendations. The academic functioning at USACH is explained to them, the evaluation system and they are also introduced to Chilean culture and life in the capital.

“The induction is key to know the functioning and the day to day life inside our University, as well as to have key data of the student life in Chile”, details Fernando Olmos Galleguillos, remarking that once the academic semester begins next September 23, a unique meeting between all the students who will arrive during the period to the USACH can be executed.

During the second semester of 2024, the Universidad de Santiago de Chile expects to receive 117 students (including exchanges and internships) from 13 countries of America and Europe: Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Paraguay and Uruguay. This figure is steadily increasing, both due to the dissemination work done on the opportunities offered by USACH, as well as the constant growth of new strategic bilateral agreements in different parts of the world.

Receiving international students at our university is an invaluable opportunity that enriches both the academic community and the cultural environment. These students bring with them diverse perspectives that contribute to the learning environment at USACH, which always aims to be more inclusive and global. In addition, their presence promotes the expansion of our own worldviews, promoting intercultural understanding and respect for differences.
