USACH and Technical University of Ostrava prepare collaboration in scientific and pedagogical fields

A delegate from the VSB-TUO of the Czech Republic visited the University of Santiago to meet with representatives of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, the Faculty of Engineering and Usach International.

Through the efforts of the Research and Development Unit of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, the University of Santiago of Chile received the visit of Professor Marian Marschalko, head of the Department of Geological Engineering of the Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. The purpose of the meeting was to reactivate and update the existing international cooperation relationship between the two universities.

Present at the meeting were Fernando Olmos, director of Usach International; Mayerley Pacheco, Cooperation Coordinator of Usach International; María Correa, Research and Development Coordinator of the Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment; Marco Barrientos, professor of the Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment; Francisca Ibaceta, VIME Coordinator of the Faculty of Engineering; and Miguel Vera, professor of the Department of Mining Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering.

The meeting served to reactivate and update the existing international cooperation relationship between USACH and VSB-TUO, which was materialized in a proposal for a bilateral agreement presented by Professor Marian Marschalko. Thus, the academic formally expressed the interest of his institution to move towards a collaboration in scientific and pedagogical field that allows collaborative research and teaching mobility, without ruling out the possibility of generating new agreements that allow mobility of researchers and graduate students.

With the proposal from the Technical University of Ostrava begins a new stage of cooperation that, initially, will be managed internally in its review, signature and follow-up process, by the units involved: Usach International; Research and Development Unit of the Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment and VIME Unit of the Faculty of Engineering.

Finally, Usach Internatgional highlighted the relevance of collaborating in Erasmus+ projects with the Technical University of Ostrava, focused on students, academics and professional staff, and the importance of promoting internationalization initiatives at home and the development of global competencies.
